Cause for Celebration

I am finally leaving so we headed over to McAllen to have the last supper, and it ended with Champagne and wonderful desserts! On another note my cousin had her second baby girl this afternoon!

Bananas Foster

I wonder if they make a "Hope you don't get pick-pocketed while traveling in Central & South America" card?

I went to the store to buy some cards I can send people while I will be away, birthdays, babies, etc and at the same time was looking for an engagement card... I went to the section I thought it might be in and right under Love and Amor I came across... troubled relationship... I thought to myself what is going on, but that was just the beginning, I then came across a treatment/recovery card.

So if ever you are wondering how you are doing just walk down the Hallmark isle at your local Walgreens and browse through the titles of cards they have for sale and be thankful you are not receiving one of THOSE cards...

Humor

As quoted by my Grandmother the other day while driving down the road.

You have to have a sense of humor to make it in this world.

Go to all the Weddings and Parties but skip the Funerals even your own.

Goodbye to You

As I was driving home today I suddenly realized that the rock ballad has died, they just don't write them like they used to in the 90's... Shooting at the walls of heartache bang,bang... I am the warrior. I have to say I turned it up loud, that was right after they played Bon Jovi's Never Say Goodbye, now maybe some of you have forgotten the lyrics but let me enlighten you for just one second.

Remember when we lost the keys
And you lost more than that in my backseat

oh and another classic...

Remember at the prom that night
You and me we had a fight
But the band they played our favorite song
And I held you in my arms so strong

Rest in Peace Rock Ballad Rest in Peace...

Dallas part 2

Today I drove around Dallas and visited the Arts District. I met a very nice man that used to be a SMU football player. He worked at the Trammel Crow Asian Arts exhibit. He told me all about jade carvings and the oriental pieces I was looking at. Hanging in the breeze way there were 1000 origami paper cranes, a book I read as a kid at the Montessori school (It is Japanese legend that folding 1000 cranes (senzaburu) so pleases the gods that the folder is granted a wish). After leaving the Asian exhibit I walked around the Nasher Sculpture Center also located in the Dallas Arts District, then I decided to forgo driving to Fort Worth and just came back to Jessica and Tyler's house to relax. On the way home I stopped to take photos of the beautiful murals painted on the buildings in South Dallas. Enjoy!

One Week to go...

I am in Dallas, I have finished almost everything. I am saying goodbye to the last of my friends. I have packed my bags, I am selling my car, I keep thinking about how different everything is going to be when I get back and that I probably wont miss the TV I gave away when I left Austin. Sometimes everything seems irrelevant, so I bought a journal and took some black and white pictures in a photo booth to mark the occasion.

Two Weeks to go

Things have been hectic. I finished my observations at the Harlingen Literacy Center and hope to finish up my course by the weeks end. I have to write lesson plans and a 500 word essay, which I am not looking forward to. In other news I moved my ticket forward so that I could be in Central America longer. I am nervous that I will be gone for most of the next year with a brief stop in Texas over the holiday season and may possibly get very homesick. I am excited about the unknown and what I might learn about myself and others over the next year. I can't imagine teaching English but luckily I speak fairly well and will be the expert since I will be teaching non-native speakers. It is going to be hot, although it is hot here, the heat index was 110 yesterday, that is hot. So if you are ever bored, please e-mail me as the notes I recieve will be the only contact I have, and if you have my phone number I can receive text messages.

I will be in the states for two more weeks.
